  • I scored “Rubberb.it” the highest because I prefer songs in that style.I liked the way the guitar was used to create a sound like a rubberband, (good choice for the extra sample). The best patterns in my opinion was patterns 5,14 and others like them, because the breaks were tied in realy well. However, the lead tunes in some of the other patterns were very well engineered and were enjoyable to listen to. The chord sequence was well thought out and suited the style of the song(with some nice suspensions)
  • even tho rubberband went a little far and wide with the leads it was still a nice song and since i can’t track anything near the style i choose it as the winning song. the others were mainly very disappointing
  • nice leads=)
  • Rubberband (Rubberb.it) received the highest score because of a number of factors. Firstly it is good song, well structured with good use of variation. Secondly, it show good tracking skill and sample usage.
  • Wow! Fantastically written. Beautifully orchestrated. Catchy to the end and sticks in your head for days. Really really nice. It’s great to see callibre of this kind entering comps
  • rubberb.it: Brilliant piece of work!! Somewhat reminiscent of WAVE, it has some of that elusive synthfunk quality that won MC4 and MC5. The lead is perfect for the type of mood set in the song (happy-and- jumpy-like, sortof :) the background sound is great, and it doesn’t get boring. I love this song!
  • Rubberband was the overall best tune in the compo. I just liked way it groove, that’s all.
  • most skillfully tracked. nice hooks, catchy bassline, and yeah, slightly forced leads, but still the best. nice melody and flow.

  • The only tune with dance content, pv just rules. He’s probably the funkiest guy in this world, we should indeed build shrines to honour pv. And now everybody go chase for pv ! Or whatever.
  • (pv)land.it get the best mark from me because it had nice melodies and varied moods, and it was listenable for a goa tune :), though it only just pipped out the likes of rubberb.it, ts-repre, and several others. A pretty good standard of entries, tho’ nothing out of the box. I don’t think anyone who entered should consider themselves disgraced.
  • This song is so kool, and in the right style. I like Goa very much.

  • hrm. tough decision this pack. all the songs were pretty similar (i blame this on the sample pack)…but whats the deal with everyone using those industrial type minor pieces with only two or three notes? “c c c c c# c c c#” or something of that sort. sorry, didnt work for me. if you understood what i just as saying. so. i felt this one was just slightly the best.

file: kue.it

  • kue.it: Rockin’ tune. Starts out very minimalistic (great drumwork, tho) and proceeds to a more “standard-issue” compo song – however, it grips you like no other song in this compo (except rubberb.it :). I don’t know why i’m so fascinated by this song, it IS after all fairly ordinary when you look at it – but i can’t stop playing it over and over again. Hm, weird. Great work.
  • man this is a fucking gret tune …orignal beat nice melodiez and cool progresion …i love it …i must say kraiden’z tune was awesome 2 and rubreb was preaty good but this tune is the groviest in my mind

file: lgx_cc.it

  • The mood set in the beginning follows through this song – it has a kind of strange, haunting sound underneath that blippy lead, and it rocks. The author claims he was too drunk to finish, and looking at the time and date of the song, i might believe him :). What bugs me is that I’ve tried tracking in that state too, and it sounded nowhere this good ;). Only thing i didn’t like about this song was the ending because it didn’t exist.

mixed:

  • This compo’s sample pack allowed for some quite diverse styles. Most tunes were technically and musically brilliant this time around, and I had a hard time singling out the best. Ultimately I gave Distance’s intelligently blissful “star cell u.k.” and PV’s futuristic goa “native-land” my highest scores because I felt they conveyed a certain “atmosphere” that was lacking in the other entries. Zephyr’s “kue” and TitanStar’s “Repellent Reaction” are also worth mentioning for being neato synth tunes. :) Werd up, guys.
