GroovyCompo #30 Results
Congrats to both Aymes & Ballistique for pulling first this time round. I was going
to enter, but thought it unfair since I was writing a killer tune with the samples,
besides the fact I didn't finish it on time after running out of inspiration due to a busy
schedule. I'll try to finish it soon and post it here for everyone to listen to.
Also congrats to all entrants for actually filling out the voteform! Correctly even. I
didn't have to disqualify anyone for not voting! Makes it a pleasure to host this
competition!! :)

- this song felt like a real song unlike some of the others.
- light.it - bad -> repetitive at times, lacked some solid leads on
the added string sample
- good -> nice
listening music, sounded best overall
- all the tunes were quite crappy this time, mostly because of the samples. Maybe it was
the melody and/or the whole entity which made this tune so "special".
- Nice feel! fun to listen to, refreshing, very smooth! no, I'm not talking about my beer.
:) Well done tune, overall- the title is very fitting. Simple but inspiring melodies. I
find myself humming/whistling this one on occasion.
- Well you can clearly hear 2 different styles on this coop but they meld together very
well. The melody laid on top of the piano progression is the strong point of this trak for
me. Also one of the few tracks to do a nice key transition to break up the piece. Great
sounding percussion very appropriate, a couple of the transitions are a little awkward but
a very nice ending.
- When I hear this tune ('light of day part I & II') I feel that this samplepack was
created for it. The leads are just amazing, the drums are well done and the panning is
perfect. The seconde part of the song catch me because of its melody. They made a really
successful coop
- Itīs incredible! the melow, structure, bassline, everything was just perfect!
- I gave it the highest score because of the overall niceness of the tune. Phasing strings
and piano. Reminds me of "At the end of the Pier" by Ballistique and Argh. Good
stuff. :)

- - bad -> repetitive at times
- good -> nice intro, good leads
- This was the most original tune in the pack. Great melody, great harmonizing (a tribute
to the tracker's name, no doubt :) ); funky syncopation. This was the only tune in the
pack that persisted in my head after listening to it.

- - bad -> relied too much on the added string sample, wasn't the best overall
- good -> wasn't repetitve, nice listening music

- I picked gc30.it as winner mostly because it has really nice leads and improvizing. It
also goes almost straight to the point, I tend to get bored listening to 2 minutes of
strings at the beginning of songs. The end is a bit disappointing though, seems like the
author ran out of time. Well done still, it's groovy. :)
- Normally I don't go for a bouncy pop type arrangement but this one is so well written
it's infectious. Expert usage of the wurly samps and obvious skill in music theory is
apparent. The climax at the end is quite spectacular. The ending is too abrupt though.
- A decent song by zephyr. The lead is meandering and uninspired, but works. The groove is
kinda cool, but is rushed. I hope the author actually puts effort in his next entry =) Not
a great song, but worth a listen

- Interesting song, the added strings really help hold this piece together with a warm
touch. Decent stuff all around but that high pitch snare really bugs me :( I must say
though that I enjoy the layed back feeling you achieve with the piano and strings.

- the reason why i gave this 16 points is because it really is a very good set of ideas. i
feel that it would have been a 18-20 song if the authour had just been a bit more skilled
technically (meaning arranging and mixing). also there are a few bum notes, but this
doesnt stop me from putting a first-place ribbon around this. hope this encourages you
some :) keep at it!
- God I love funky jazz fusion type grooves and this tune cranks out 2 totally cool
sections, very tasty chord progressions and bass/drum work have my toe tapping every time
I hear this one. Very nicely arranged and great use of the samps especially like the usage
of the brass hit and the percussion patterns.

- The least boring tune of the whole crappy bunch.

- distance strikes again. love this tune - melodies/harmonies/chords etc...fall into place
with the rhythms beautifully. very moody, i like that. usage of some samples was creative
too (whistle being a bass drum and such)

- I liked the whole mixture of the tune. Nice chords and stuff. The tune was okey, and it
had a nice rythm. Light.it had some strange noices that I didn't like. Should I get a
bether IT tracker/player?
- The idea is great, the beat's strong and the melodies are... ...well....melodic What
more can I say? :)

- the best. origional jazzy chords. great beat, catchy tune, very good feel. sounds the
